Black, Pavement, Planet or
Cha Cha existed, New Zealand's first music, art, fashion, lifestyle magazine was
Playdate. Published by a company called Union Investments between 1960 and 1972
Playdate was "aimed at teens to twenty-sixers." The magazine was probably New Zealand's answer the to the
NME or
Nova Magazine. Popular music, film, and the fashions of the day were mixed with cutting edge art features. The mag also featured NZ's first popular chart, the
Playdate chart, which predated the Rianz Chart.
